For our English lessons, some friends and me had to do a short sketch movie about mutual prejudices between the English and Germans. This is our humble effort to be funny:

Baibureta Overdryve site launch and more.
Yes, it's been a while.
I've entered a local competition with my band Bad Sunday, so that's basically what I have been doing the last weeks. I'm very happy to announce that we managed to pass the first round in first place. As soon as the date for the second round will be announced, I will update the band home page.
Also, the days of my final exams come nearer and nearer and in order to get a good graduation, I have to study and learn a lot in the next months.
Other than that, the website of my electronica band, Baibureta Overdryve launched. Please visit the site and drop me a comment, that would really be cool.
I'm becoming more and more obsessed with the idea to remix some video game tunes. I've always wanted to have a song up on OverClocked Remix, because it's a cool site and I'd love to contribute to it. Let's see how far I'll put that idea after my graduation.

Major homepage update!
Geez, that really was a lot of effort. I reworked the homepage again, added a link to this blog (people didn't find it
) and completely remade the media section.
Since I didn't want to put the information on the news site, I decided to put the change log here:

- Added the songs 'Winter Journey' and 'Preludio Grottesco'
- Added the MIDI files 'Aglara Garden' and 'Parasite Battle'
- Removed 'Kanon' and 'A Life's Forsaken' (I don't think these are representative anymore)
- Completely reworked the media section:
- Added some nifty CD graphics for each song (Yes, I stole the idea from Newgrounds).
- Rearranged the song order, so that it's no longer alphabetical, but best songs first.
- Underlined the song titles (What an amazing, ground-breaking change!)
- Added one of the Tankmen to the main page, who links to my Newgrounds profile.
- Added three photographs to the biography section (Yay!)

De-Virginator Music Video!
The Love Dictators did it again! Not only did they play an enormously great gig at the completely filled (ehem...) Cobra in Solingen, they also released their very first music video!
It features various live scenes of the song 'De-Virginator'!
For more information go to their official homepage.

Backseat Education disbanded
Though this might be a surprise for some of you, the first signs of the split-up could be seen long ago. It's not a hasty decision and it's not something that will get revised in a few weeks. For at least four of the five band members, the decision is final - there will be no Backseat Education with this line-up again.
And sadly, it doesn't have anything to do with musical differences and is anything but a peaceful separation. I won't be going into details, since I still respect the other band members' privacy. All I want to say at this point is that we all have absolutely no intention to work in this line-up again.
For those of you just who asked themselves: "Huh? Backseat Education? What in the name of God is that?". Backseat Education was a five-piece hard rock combo from Solingen, for which I was the singer. Judging from the local press, we were pretty promising to say the least. It's sad to see such a chance pass by, since the band made me live through an asset of very different emotions and I was able to gather a lot of experience through it. Still, you have to look ahead.
I haven't quite decided what to do yet, other than focussing a bit more on Bad Sunday. Perhaps I will start another project, perhaps I will join an existing band, but first of all, I'll concentrate on my graduation, which is due in June 2008.
I wish all of the guys good luck in their future projects - and I hope I will meet them again. Who knows? It might as well be on stage some day.

Baibureta Overdryve & Eleven Games
Yesterday, I phoned with Benjamin Klüter, the creator of Havoc Zone. We, both aspiring a career in the game making business (although he already works as a professional pixel artist - and certainly not a bad one if I might say so), agreed to join forces permanently and found a little game making studio, now called SquidLink Eleven Games.
With his exceptional talent in Game and Graphic Design, my friend Achim's experience as programmer and code engineer and my abilities in composing and storywriting, the three of us can really boost that project's potential and hopefully can make it one of the most blasting space shooters known to the world.
How far my engagement with Havoc Zone will go is uncertain. It is, however, clear that I will deal with the soundtrack as well as with SFX and synchronization matters. I will rework the two existing tracks, Supersonic Proving Grounds and High Scores. One thing is sure, the soundtrack will resurrect the feeling of retro video game music.
A lot of planning has to be done, another project is in pre-production, where I will be responsible for the most story work. All I can say is that is going to be an Eastern-style RPG, inspired by the likes of Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana.
Another new thing is the reformation of my ambient / noise set-up Baibureta Overdryve. Aurae and me didn't have time to give the project the devotion it deserved and thus put it on hold. We're now back working on our first album Wisdom. Science. Decay., but we're uncertain when it might be released. The first tracks are available here.

What I'm working on
It's been a tough week for me, mainly because I had to prepare for various gigs. Still, the effort put in these projects is highly rewarding for a musician - and I really had a great time altogether.
All these band projects are demanding a lot of time and thus leaving not much room for my non-band music.
Still, since this is my first entry to this blog, I want to show you what I'm currently working on.
The Other Side Original Soundtrack
The soundtrack for The Other Side, a sci-fi RPG Maker Game, is quite back-to-the-roots for me. It's a pretty much straightforward RPG, thus in no way experimental. Since the soundtrack has to be in MIDI, the composing work is all that matters. It can be a challenge to compose various tracks without the benefits of sampling and mixing. Still, 12 songs are already completed, five of them have already been rendered to waveform and uploaded to Last.fm. Click the image to play them. I am quite satisfied with the work, some of my best songs have been written for that project. I'm really looking forward to the release of the next demo, where people can see the game and the soundtrack in unison.
Havoc Zone Original Soundtrack
A totally different approach is the soundtrack for Havoc Zone, which basically is an old-school space shooter like Raiden or R-Type. I mainly use retro synthesizers (most prominently emulated NES, C64 and GameBoy soundchips) with modern electronic drums and electric guitars. The combination is quite experimental and although the description sounds a bit like Machinae Supremacy's Jets 'n' Guns Soundtrack, I found the results to be quite different. It's still a big task for me and a pretty interesting one, seeing as I like challenges and love retro video game music. Up to this day, two tracks have been completed. I've uploaded them to Last.fm. To get there, click the link.
C:/Fantasy-Online Original Soundtrack
Another sci-fi RPG is C:/Fantasy-Online (not to be confused with Phantasy Star Online) for which I sadly don't have much time to compose music for. It's a freeware project and looking at the other projects, I'm lacking a bit motivation to put more effort in it. Yet, one song is already finished, it features live guitar, sounds a bit jazzy but still contributes well to the semifuturistic setting. The song is called Golly! Greens! and you can find it, as always, on Last.fm (click the link, you know the procedure).
